BOUCHEROUITE, meaning "rag" in Moroccan Arabic, is a style of rug that is crafted by weaving dyed recycled textiles together. Traditionally, these rugs were created with bits of scraps in areas where raw materials were rare. The designs of the rugs are inspired by nature and the surroundings of the Berber women who create them. Passed on from generations, this form of expressionism has become a favorite of designers.
As a vintage piece that has been woven entirely by hand, the shapes of these rugs are often known to be imperfect. This is a very unique Boucherouite that is both flat and raised with woven rosettes and border. This stunning piece could be used on the floor or on a bed due to its weight.
All rugs have been cleaned and restored. They are in excellent condition and have been very well preserved. Hand picked by marramarket in Morocco, these artistic rugs will be the perfect complement to any contemporary living space. We love seeing them used in children's playrooms due to their durability!
